We're just between Summit and Cannonsburg on a small back road, here we see CSXT 7629 idling waiting for a crew to take over the train. This photo holds a lot of meaning for me, seeing as it is my first photo of this train on my favorite line, the former Chesapeake & Ohio's Lexington Subdivision.
Recently, CSX has laid out welded rail in preparation of upgrading the post-abandonment FRA excepted jointed rail. They are preparing for larger unit trash trains with mainline power. Who would have guessed that this former subdivision would see a new leaser on life - at least on what's left of it.
Any and all pictures from Collis P. Huntington's "Gateway to the West," Chesapeake & Ohio's mainline from Ashland to Lexington, KY. Reduced from a 100+ mile route, down to about 15 miles.
