Lawrence Brook Trestle -
A maintenance worker rides on the back of a Harsco tie exchanger as it crosses west over the Lawrence Brook Trestle. This was the second to last day of a multi-week tie replacement project for Browns Yard and the Sayreville Running Track. The Sayreville Running track (formerly the RRRR est. 1880s) terminates just a few hundred yards west (left) of this bridge at Silverline Windows. The bridge remains in service only to serve Silverline, which receives just one or two hoppers of plastic pellets per month. Silverline used to receive many more freight cars, but now gets most of its plastic pellets for the manufacturing of windows by truck. The railroad is now used only to deliver specialty colored pellets such as beige. The likelihood is high that in another few years this bridge will be taken out of service and the Sayreville Runner will be truncated once more. Special thanks go to Dan Carle and John Wolan for tipping me off on when the MofW crew would be crossing the bridge.
