Remarks & Notes |
Train RF7 (Extra 225 East) heads past Fresh Pond on its way to Holban yard under the New York Connecting Railroad trestle. Every load of freight that enters Long Island has to pass over that trestle on its way from Oak Point Yard in the Bronx. Empire State Building is visible on the left side of the picture. The slide mount mentions the Engineer as "Mike". The Hogger has probably long since retired as the LIRR Engineer's roster shows 1984 as the most senior man. This was a very profitable time for LIRR freight which was eventually disbanded in 1997 and sold to Anacostia & Pacific's New York & Atlantic Railway. Unknown photographer, my collection. |
