A unit tank train heads westbound along the very busy six-track line just east of the large Guangzhou East Railway Station. The two center tracks are dedicated for use by high speed trains of the Guangshen Railway between Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The two farthest tracks handle freight traffic as well as slower intercity passenger trains, including "through trains" to Hong Kong. The two closest tracks, although highly maintained, seem to be used primarily for light engine and equipment moves between the station and a coach yard just east of this location.
