S&NC's BL2 sits deep in the Adirondack mountains at the north end of the Sanford Lake Branch, milepost NC 29/SL 0. This branch was built in the 1940's during WWII to bring titanium out of a mine located here. Ilmenite continued to be hauled out of this location by the D&H until the mine and processing plants shut down in the 1980's. The S&NC is now starting to haul tailings out of here.
An assortment of photos of the distinctly unique (and 'cute') little locomotive EMD ever built, the BL2! I understand it also makes a tasty sandwich..Oh, that's a BLT! (When a new BL2 photo is "ordered", it will be served fresh!)
