Norfolk Southern Railbus 101 'The Carolinian' has just departed from Seaside Amusement Park in Virginia Beach and works it's way back to Norfolk in this July 1937 photograph. The electric lines overhead haven't been used in 2 years since the Railbuses replaced electric traction. The line would last another ten years before succumbing to the automobile and Norfolk Southern's own competing bus service. Today this area is highly developed, the amusement park is long gone, and the trackage right of way is now Pacific Avenue.
