Black River and Western's 2-8-0 #60, former Great Western, makes a Wintertime dash through a snow storm in mid-December during a special series of excursions, seen here just shy of Dayton Road in Flemington, NJ, on December 14th, 2013. The sold out trips ran from Flemington to Ringoes, NJ and return. Mr and Mrs Cluase (seen here) awaited passengers at the station in Ringoes. The green classification lights signal a "second section" train following behind which I assume will be the same train deadheading back from Flemington to wrap up the day's event.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
Serving small industries in Hunterdon County for 50 years, the Black River and Western serves as an active line and a window to the past of New Jersey with rural farms and small creeks.
