The Utah Railway Company has always rostered an interesting array of diesel locomotives, while looking for a great deal. For two years, they leased a pair of former Southern Pacific SD35s from OmniTrax for use as coal train helpers on Soldier Summit. The two would sometimes stray from their appointed duties and work elsewhere on the Utah Railway. The 3108 is pictured leading the RUT611 Provo-Ogden turn on a sunny June 20, 1999 afternoon. It was built the SP 4843 by EMD in March 1965. After the lease expired, it moved to OmniTrax subsidiary Hudson Bay Railway in Canada in June 2001 and was scrapped by July 2014.
