For most of the year, Via 98/Amtrak 63 waits at Niagara Falls without any company while customs is going on. Sometimes during the summer, the weekend evening GO excursion train will occupy the same track, just meters away from it. However, today is a little different. A Via Rail consist is parked on the adjacent track, bringing back memories from the not so distant past, when Via 90, 92 and 95 ran. At night, the consists would sit in very much the same spot Via 6409 is occupying. These trains were mothballed in late 2012 due to budget cuts, meaning Via Rail consists would no longer come to Niagara. Niagara Falls is still a tourist spot though, and a few specials have ran since then. This is no exception. While 98 was actually on time tonight, 694, the train number the true Via would take on left almost three hours late. I'm guessing the casino goers partied a little too hard, delaying it's departure. Via 6409 has an LRC club car along with the Glen Fraser.
