Better known as New York Central's "Empire State Express locomotive #999". This locomotive was built by the NYC&HR West Albany Shops in 1893. Its claim to fame is an unofficial record speed of 112.5 mph claimed to have been reached on May 10th, 1893. At the time, it had 86 inch drivers vs the 72" drivers (seen here) that the engine had finished its career with in 1952. The engine was presented to the Museum in 1962.
