With the sun close to setting on the Sonoran Desert, an eastbound stack train attacks the grade between Bosque and Shawmut. The Sonoran Desert is actually a low-profile forest, with numerous saguaro cacti, mesquite trees, and palo verdes dotting the landscape. Unless you're standing on a rise, it's difficult to see approaching trains, even though you might be able to hear them coming for some time.
