Nickel Plate Road 765 makes an appearance on the old Wabash as it splits the signals at CP Delphi. This shot was unachievable 5 years ago, but thanks to the new Hoosier Heartland Highway, (25,) it is. Going back 25 years ago, this shot would be impossible, as the Colburn-Delphi siding was much shorter. This siding was lengthened during the Conrail merger to accommodate longer and multiple trains in the siding. So if you are going to lengthen the siding, why not put in new signals too? Well, because its the NS. Now, over a decade later, these relocated Wabash searchlights will fall in due time as new Safetran signals stand ready to be swung into position.
Taken the 18th of July, 2015, on the NS Lafayette District, Illinois Division.
