So what is the meaning behind 'Snow Bus' regarding this set? The UP uses UPP 430, a former Southern Pacific bay window caboose (SP 4700 Series C-50-9) to shuttle relief crews into the remote areas of the Colorado Rockies when needed, either due to snow or severe cold. The caboose was apparently rebuilt in the Cheyenne Shops in Wyoming and moved to Denver in the late 1990's. Snowstorms have pounded the Rockies in the last few weeks so it won’t be long before this trio is heading into the mountains. |
