Golden hour arrival. The newly restored WW&F #9 passes the north switch as she enters the Sheepscot Yard with the B-Train at the WW&F Museum's Victorian Christmas event.
Number 9 is an 1891 product of Maine's Portland Company, and one of just a small handful of 19th century steam locomotives that are still capable of running under their own power. Most of the members of this exclusive club are either museum-bound, or privately-owned with no dedicated track to run on. Two that do run regularly are the "movie star" Sierra #3, which was also built in 1891 and runs at California's Railtown 1897, and SP 2248, which was built in 1896 and runs on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in Texas.
