A Southern Pacific coal train climbs through the Crater Loops at Crater, Colorado, on the Craig Branch on the morning of July 31, 1996. Five General Electric AC4400CWs power the train, with two on the point, two mid-train, and one following up on the rear of the train. In this view Nos. 368 and 287 are just entering the upper loop, while Nos. 332 and 256 on are seen below on the lower loop. The track continues through a cut barely visible in the foreground. In the background on the far right is the grade going through Volcano, where the train will be in another five track-miles or so.
