"Parting Shot"
NS 5280 (GP38-2), running as CSAO SA2, at the west end of the Sayreville Running Track makes it's unpredictable delivery schedule of hopper cars to Silver Line Windows on a late Friday afternoon.
This is the final shot I took on my last day as a Silver Line employee with having handing over my ID badge just minutes earlier. Although I am not one to dissect photographs, I can't help but to relate this scene to my situation at the time....the end of line coinciding with an ending career, the cat tails swaying in winds of change, a cloudy winter sky for an uncertain future. And yet, there is this golden moment of opportunity that has presented itself that I would never have seen if different decisions were made 6 months prior.
As I head back to the car, I hear the BOOM of the hopper cars hitting the shoving platform as the conductor sends the empties down the track and I know I will be back to try and catch the elusive SA2 train.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
