One of the last GG1-powered Broadway Limiteds is about to cross the now-abandoned Oak Lane crossing on its way to the next stop in Lancaster. The 4924, one of seven units to wear Amtrak's "Platinum Mist" scheme, was built by Altoona/Westinghouse as the PRR 4931 in February, 1943. Originally numbered as the 924 by Amtrak, a "4" was added in anticipation of the delivery of the AEM-7s (Nos. 900-953.)
An era of great change for the fledgling carrier with GG1s, Metroliners, E60s, AEM-7s, E8s, SDP-40s, F40PHs, P42DCs, the Broadway Limited, Capitol Limited, National Limited and more.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
