Still looking good in the last paint job it received from the Trunk (very late 70's or early 80's would be my guess), former Grand Trunk Western GP9 #4433 is seen here on the tail track of the cinder pit wye at CSX's Wyoming yard. Taken on RR property with permission and proper PPE.
After being retired by GTW, 4433 and 4428 found their way to the Saginaw Railroad Museum. They were subsequently bought by Great Lakes Locomotive and moved to the Conrad Yelvington stone yard in Flint where they were used to unload stone trains. 4433 was later leased to Marquette Rail where it was used in local and occasional road service. After G&W bought Rail America, all leased locomotives on the MQT were either bought by G&W or returned. 4433 was then moved to CSX's Wyoming yard in Grand Rapids along with GLLX C420 #850 and SW1200 #1512, stored on Conrad Yelvington tracks, and sometimes unloading stone trains when Conrad's SW9 was down. Now it's heading for the new CHS elevator in Wayland, where it will be the switch engine. Seen here on the wye, waiting for CSX's Y295 to bring it to Grand Elk's Hugart yard across town, where it will subsequently be taken south to Wayland.
