After following Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad train No. 464 into Durango, a maintenance-of-way worker removes his motorcar from the main line on the afternoon of August 22, 2003. Two wooden handles that are extended from the rear of the motorcar and some muscle is used to move the machine onto those short 90° tracks leading off the main. Motorcars could once be found on main line railroads almost everywhere, but are now almost completely gone, only seen on special operations like the steam-powered D&SNG.
