RDG #2101 toured the eastern portion of the United States as the "American Freedom Train" between April 1, 1975 to September 1976. When relieved by SP #4449 in Chicago in July of 1975, the engine received a new and improved livery which included not only the Great Seal of the United States, but also this golden eagle. The patriotic eagle remained on the engine throughout the rest of the tour and on through the Chessie Steam Special excursions. Today, the engine sits on display, outdoors in the parking lot of the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD.
Displays of American pride, and spirit! Equipment painted Red, White, and Blue! With an honored salute and tribute to our veterans and troops added too! Patriots can still be found to join this gathering of Patriotic Pride!
