In late afternoon light in November, 1979, Saint Louis-San Francisco GP38-2 403 and a pair of SD45’s lead a piggyback train south through the triple diamonds in Carrollton, Texas. The Cotton Belt station, visible in the background at right, marks the crossing of that road’s line to Fort Worth, the Frisco line from Sherman, and Missouri-Kansas-Texas’ original Dallas-Denton line. Interlocking Tower 77 once stood here, and thirty years from this date the scene will be utterly transformed by the elevated tracks and station of the Dallas area DART light rail system running left to right along the old Katy alignment.
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
