In a rather unusual move the 120S is lead by a GP38-2, essentially a yard motor on the Alaska Railroad. In fact this train is led my 3 separate models of EMD products. The afore mentioned GP38-2, followed by the GP40-2 and lastly a SD70MAC. Pretty much the whole spectrum of the railroad on one train. And while it may appear that the sun is setting there is in fact over three hours of sunlight left to this Alaska day, however, at this time of day much of it is blocked by the Chugach Mountains at this particular location. Leaving the sun to backlight the train as they pull up to the siding at Girdwood where they will meet the returning Glacier Discovery, adding another unique stamp to a day in the Last Frontier.
