The circle of life, for taconite anyways, is evident in this photo at the DM&IR ore dock in Duluth. Limestone has been brought in by boat to go to the mines, where it will be mixed with ore to produce taconite. The taconite will then be loaded onto a boat to continue its journey to the steel mill. The queen of the lakes, the Edward Ryerson, is doing the honors of transporting the finished product in October of 1993.
