Green Bay & Western, now part of Canadian National, used to make a daily trek between Green Bay and Winona, MN, serving the paper industry and interchanging with BN and Milwaukee Road. They also could interchange with CNW at Winona, and at Merrillan, WI, where this crew is handling that task as the train works east back to Wisconsin Rapids and Green Bay. They also had a branch to Stevens Point and a line east from Green Bay to Kewaunee, WI where they interchanged traffic to Ann Arbor and C&O car ferries to provide a bridge route to the East that avoided Chicago.
