A Chicago and North Western coal train rumbles west at Pewaukee, Wisconsin in a January 22, 1995 snowstorm. This train is on the Soo Line (former Milwaukee Road) main line and the heavy train stalled going up Brookfield Hill because of the slick conditions in the wet snow. It is doubling (dividing the train in two and operating the each section to the top of the grade independently) and bringing the first half of the train to the end of double track at Pewaukee. The power will then go back east and get the second half of the train. Quite an operation in the snow for the crew, and surely makes a mess of the railroad!
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
