Nebraska Central EMD GP38-3 sits quietly in Central City, Nebraska, as a westbound Union Pacific coal empty thunders by in the background. The UP train is about to cross the former diamond of a CB&Q/BN/BNSF line that went from Aurora towards Burwell and Ericson. This was later cut back to Palmer (20 miles long), which Nebraska Central operated until 2012. NCRC still runs the former UP branch line out of Central City to Brainard on the 63-mile Stromberg Subdivision, which is the reason No. 1024 idles in town on April 5, 2016.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
