In the beginning, the desert vista between Williams, AZ and the Grand Canyon was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface. We had been forewarned days prior to this turn in the weather, but we charged forward enjoying the first of two days of a Lerro Productions charter at the Grand Canyon Railway. Day two was reserved for the railway's 2-8-2 No. 4960, but on February 7th, 2017, the railway's recently restored 2-8-0 No. 29 was called to service. Mercy had fallen upon us by day's end, the very last runby, when God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. Patrons saw that the light was good and we were elated to have the opportunity to capture such a magnificent scene as seen above.
