I could have been much worse. On a rainy Thursday in Fort Collins, Colorado, the driver turned right as the train was approaching and missed the road, turning instead too soon and ending up on the ballast adjacent to the track. Luckily the BNSF train was a short freight and was able to stop in time. Had it been a coal train or a longer freight it could have been a much more serious event. After about 20 minutes a wrecker came and pulled the car off the ballast and the SD60M again headed south to Longmont.
