On an off chance that they would be running, I decided to make a quick stop in Batavia to see if I could find the Depew, Lancaster, & Western RR's Alco S6. Much to my surprise, I heard a horn as I got close to the tracks. Sure enough, they were hauling a single box car through town! I managed to get ahead of them at the Batavia Industrial Park as they came out of the trees. They are just about to round the curve and head for the CSX where they will work for the next part of their day.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
