RPO #93 on display at the Virginia Museum of Transportation. According to the VMT website this car was made in 1937. N&W purchased 9 of these cars with this car being sold to the Florida East Coast RW in 60-61 and reacquired by N&W in 1966. These car normally traveled with the passenger trains rather than freight trains. So with the decline of passenger service and the Postal service going to air mail in the late 60's, one more aspect railroading was yet doomed for the scrap pile. Physical preservation of our history is what keeps the dreams alive as we ponder what it would be like in the days old and gone by. Thanks to VMT and all those still holding on and preserving history, as it was.
