The 917 is trailing a stream of dust as it speeds up the center track by the old PRR station in Aberdeen. It's 1977, and there's still a lot of the "old NEC" in existence- all wood ties, Heritage equipment, and Penn Central Deepwater Green station signs. The 917 still survives; it was built by Altoona/Westinghouse in July 1942 as the PRR 4919, retired by Amtrak after 5.5 million miles, and is today preserved at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke.
