Final approach, final time...this summer. As Amtrak Train 242 heads down the Park Avenue Viduct into the tunnel that will bring it to Grand Central Terminal, we catch a number of other MTA Metro-North Railroad trains on this busy Friday, September 1, 2017. While extensive work was being performed in New York's Penn Station, 3 round trips a weekday had been using this route to access NYC this summer.
The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
