On the West side of Boston Engine Terminal, a lone GP38-2 idles with two Russell plows and a flanger. Recently, the Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, visited the shop to look over the snow readiness of the MBTA. Behind this setup are several snow fighting trackcars including snow jets and regulators.
Both plows started life on the Boston & Maine Railroad and were overhauled and repainted once the MBTA acquired them. The flanger was built for Conrail, then used on CSX and was recently rebuild by the Mass Coastal Railroad.
