Remarks & Notes
Early on a Saturday morning in August 1996, two trains prepare to depart the yard at Charter Way. First out will be UP 6001 East, an APL stack train out of Oakland headed for Chicago, followed by manifest 2446 East, likely an OANP headed for North Platte, NE.

The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
