An eastbound Santa Fe piggyback train curves out of Sais, New Mexico, and is about to cross Bridge 874.2 and enter Abo Canyon on the morning of May 23, 1991. The train is powered by a pair of GE B40-8Ws, an EMD GP60M and a GE B40-8. Behind the locomotives is Santa Fe Research and Test Car No. 83, built by Pullman in 1914 as baggage-buffet-library car No. 1338, the “San Juan,” and was a car with several other incarnations before being assigned No. 83 in 1973.
