FINAL RUNS: The deadhead move for the Saratoga and North Creek Railway's final Snow Train appropriately battles through an April snowstorm as the train heads south through Stony Creek, NY on its way to Saratoga Springs, NY. The SNC's parent company--Iowa Pacific--recently announced that it will no longer be running passenger trains for Warren County, who owns the section of track between North Creek and Corinth. The decision came after the SNC was no longer able to store empty tank cars on the Iowa Pacific-owned Sanford Lake Branch between North Creek and Tahawus. New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo pressured the tank car company owner--Warren Buffett--to have the cars removed from the Sanford Lake Branch, which runs through the Adirondack State Park. The final Snow Train is scheduled to depart Saratoga Springs, NY at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 7th, returning at 4:00 PM. With the return of that train, the passenger era of the SNC will likely come to a close.
An assortment of photos of the distinctly unique (and 'cute') little locomotive EMD ever built, the BL2! I understand it also makes a tasty sandwich..Oh, that's a BLT! (When a new BL2 photo is "ordered", it will be served fresh!)
