Foggy East Broad Top: The "Armstrong" Turntable. East Broad Top crews unlock their manual "Armstrong" Turntable as they prepare to rotate Mikado #15 onto the servicing track on Friday, October 7th of 2011. This was the first day of the 2011 Fall Spectacular and on this day, the railroad ran an all-day, private event for photographer. Nestled in the Aughwick Valley, in the hill country of south central Pennsylvania, the mornings in Orbisonia often feature fog and mist that enhance the steamy appearance of yard photos. This event was an excellent opportunity to see the last bastion of 3ft gauge railroading in the Eastern US as it was more than half a century ago. I'm so glad I was able to attend for the entire weekend. Unfortunately, my very first Fall Spectacular turned out to the EBT's last.
A look at the one-time coal-hauler, which ran as a tourist railroad for decades and finally ceased operations in 2011. The album includes photos from an October 2010 charter as well as images from the very last Fall Spectacular in October of 2011.
