Foggy East Broad Top: Oozing Steam. Having just been turned to face south, EBT Mikado #15 sits on the Orbisonia Turntable just oozing steam from a number of sources. In the background, is the 8-stall, brick roundhouse that has always been home to the EBT Locomotive fleet. The tender of sister loco #14 can be seen in one of the stalls. A total of 6 Mikados live here, along with a diesel and a railcar/doodlebug. After pausing here for a few portraits by photographers attending the Fall Spectacular, the 15 will be turned once again to face north, and then back off the turntable into the ash pit, just out of view to the left. If you look closely in the foreground, you'll see the rake, the water hose....and a fair amount of old "engine poo." Unlike some other railroads that had more sophisticated, elevated ash pits, at EBT, the engines did their business on the south side of the turntable lead.
A look at the one-time coal-hauler, which ran as a tourist railroad for decades and finally ceased operations in 2011. The album includes photos from an October 2010 charter as well as images from the very last Fall Spectacular in October of 2011.
