Lake State Railway recently unveiled a preserved piece of Michigan Central Railroad history at its Saginaw, Michigan headquarters. The Wig Wag-style signal that once protected the State Street crossing at Sterling, Michigan, had been removed from service in 2006 after having been in service since the early 1900s and had been in storage on the LSRC property. Earlier this year, the signal was fully restored by a retired signal maintainer at LSRC and placed in service by the Office Car track near the headquarters building. On May 14, the wig wag is activated for a night photo with the LSRC Business/Observation car, #424 "Jim George".
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
