A westbound City of Prineville Railway freight follows the Crooked River along the cliffs lining Prineville Valley just west of Prineville, Oregon, on September 28, 2016. From this distance, the locomotive looks “Milwaukee Road,” and it’s no accident—COPR No. 989 is one of the Milwaukee’s unique GP9 rebuilds labeled a GP20 of the same road number and is painted in a very similar black over orange scheme. The train is headed to the BNSF interchange at Prineville Junction.
