Buried amongst the collection at The Shore Line Trolley Museum/Shore Line Trolley Museum Restoration Shop. in East Haven, CT are many ancient and unique gems that have not seen the light of day in years. One of those is former Third Avenue Railways convertible 884 (J.G. Brill, 1909), which operated in Manhattan and the Bronx, NY. Pictured here on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, it was donated by TARS shortly after the end of service and has not run since the 1950s. Last year, volunteers quietly began an extensive cosmetic stabilization, which has included replacing the panels and repainting the entire exterior. It is planned that this car will be moved in the autumn, when roof repair will commence. A true product of generous volunteer efforts, it is hoped that the car will restored for display, and possibly even operational one day.
