The final scheduled run for Vermont Rail System’s Scott Whitney before his retirement was the annual Old Home Days Fireworks Train in Bellows Falls, VT on the evening of August 4. Beginning his career with the GreenMountain Railroad in 1981, Whitney would go on to become synonymous with the GMRC Alco RS-1 #405, that has been his baby. It was fitting that he would be at the throttle of the GMRC 405 for the 2018 Fireworks Train, as it provided sending him out with a bang! Whitney leans out the window of the 67-year-old Alco as the fireworks commence in Bellows Falls, VT.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
