Luck would have it that the call time got pushed back at Loyall on this W584 stone train from Mount Vernon, KY, to Brice, NC, A 15:00 call time would get us last light at the switchbacks. What a show was put on as the train climbed out of the connection track onto the old east-west Cumberland Valley main. 102 feet of elevation was gained by heavy throttle and alot of sand. Also a nice set of SD70MAC's (4792 and 4762) were used as helpers out of Loyall to shove this train down towards Gates City. The low setting sun really help show "machine vs gravity" show that was put on here.
