Remarks & Notes |
Hard to believe how "dangerous" we were in my early railroad days compared to now. 1st off...to have an electronic device on while at work is a big no-no, unlike back in 2004 (the photo). Also we use to power drop to get these loads by us at Spencer to keep from going extra 10 miles to run around them at Everly. This day we bottle the air, cut them off at 20mph, and then popped the marker to stop them once they rolled by us. That is how we got around these 20 loads to spot them. Can't even drop cars now days at my current employer. Oh how the job has changed!
This is the Earl F. Wisdom Generating Station and was owned and operated by Corn Belt Power Cooperative. This plant was retired in 2014. The Spencer local between Spencer and Sheldon would serve this plant. Back in these days it would keep us hoping thru out the week. |
