Another railway line of Chile, which was partly destroyed by the heavy floods in august 2015, was the "Tocopilla" of the Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile from Tocopilla to Maria Elena (1067 mm gauge or 3 ft 6 in). The railway line was shut down in november 2015 and road traffic took over. In april 2012, the sixaxle diesellocomotive SW1200M # 25 of the SQM is pulling a heavy train loaded with sodium nitrate (NaNO3) from a mine near Maria Elena to Barriles. This strech of the line was electrified once, the old poles are still standing. The locomotive with U9C bogies ran for the Codelco in Chuquicamata before.
