Interregio 1157 of the Rhaetian Railway from Chur to St.Moritz is crossing the 60 meter long Albula I viaduct (foreground), running through the 662 meter long Rugnux spiral tunnel and becomes visible again when passing over the 74 meter long Rugnux viaduct. The line is part of the most spectacular section of the Albula Line between Bergün and Preda with a continuous inclination of 3.5 %. The photo position in deep snow on the banks of the Albula creek was reached on a rented sledge on the famous sledge run from Preda to Bergün and on snow shoots. After the photo there was a racy descent down to Bergün. The lighting of the Rugnux viaduct is related to the toboggan run.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
