People familiar with central Pennsylvania will think that I’m referring to a well-known landmark near Middletown, but the reference is to the ex-CN SD60F alive and well on the Aberdeen Carolina & Western in Star, North Carolina. Although I live a little over an hour away from Star, my work commitments prevent me from visiting the AC&W on a weekday, when they run. Nonetheless, a stop at Star this weekend revealed an idling power lineup with one of the cowls between two SD40-3’s. As soon as I find out that one has been repainted and scheduled to lead a train, a day off is mandatory.
