Pan AM Railways local train BO-1 throttles down through Chelsea, about to set cars off at the "Coke Works." This area was once known as the "Rag District." of the city. At one time it was cluttered with junk shops and scrap yards. This area was the origin of the 1973 conflagration that almost burned the city down. With a little imagination, one can picture the days of the old Boston & Maine, classic blue Geeps and an old New England warehouse built in 1880. This area was once very busy with Boston & Maine freight trains switching out the industrial spurs. Now, just one local freight passes here a couple times a week. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
