The second half of the ascent from Oberwald to Gletsch of the Furka mountain line, the track is running on the (right) slope of the Rotten gorge mainly with a incline of 11.0 % with the Abt cogwheel system. Then the valley is too steep and the train has to gain height through the 578 meter long Gletsch spiral tunnel (through the tunnel the gradient is reduced to 8.0 %). The train, pulled by the heavy 800 horsepower 0-8-0 cogwheel locomotive HG 4/4 # 704, built in 1923, just left the spiral tunnel and is heading towards Gletsch. In the background are Pizzo Nero, Pizzo Gallina and Mittaghorn.
