If only a train… Sometimes—just about everything comes together with a photo—only the subject doesn’t show up. During recent years on a much quieter Rio Grande main line through Colorado and Utah, this happens more often than not. With the last rays of a setting sun dancing on the Book Cliffs in the background, the only sounds are an occasional pop from the rails in cooling temperatures, and distant trucks cruising over the desert on I-70. Does a railroad photo always have to include a train?
